Me: Because I think that this might be the last book in this series I am trying not to read Breaking Dawn too quickly. I want to savor it like I did with the last Harry Potter. I tried at least.
Ashley: Yeah.
Me: They say the last book has to be made into two movies.
Ashley: Wow, 2 movies?
Me: Yeah
Dani: So is the rolling stones going to do an 8th book then?
Me & Ashley: Rolling stones???
::: INSANE LAUGHTER HERE ::::
Me: That’s J. K. Rowling hun, lol And no Book 7 was the end.
Dani: (Obviously embarrssed) Ohhh Hush!

Another Great Series

June 24th, 2008 Filed under: On the Nightstand, Just Me by Tammy

I am currently reading Book 3 of the Sookie Stackhouse Mystery Series from Charlaine Harris. These books are so funny and such a good read I can’t put them down. Charlaine is a great writer. She has 4 different series going as well as several other independent books. If you’re looking for some new books to read I recommend that you check her out.

The Sookie Stackhouse Series…

Book 1: Dead Until Dawn
Book 2: Living Dead In Dallas
Book 3: Club Dead
Book 4: Dead to the World
Book 5: Dead as a Doornail
Book 6: Definitely Dead
Book 7: All Together Dead
Book 8: From Dead to Worse

Soon To Be Assimilated

June 4th, 2008 Filed under: On the Nightstand, Just Me by Tammy

Yet another stack of books from the library. I found some real good ones this time. Hitting the top of my pile is…

Dead until Dark by Charlanie Harris. It’s the first in a series of 7 books. (I plan on reading them all) I started reading this one last night and I love it. It’s about a girl, named Sookie, who has a disability of sorts, she can read minds. And a vampire named Bill. It’s a great comedy. I can’t put it down or stop laughing.

I also picked up…

The Accidental Werewolf by Dakota Cassidy
Scot on the Rocks by Brenda Janowitz
Wurst Case Scenario by Catherine Clark
The Year of Disappearances by Susan Hubbard
The Door Within by Wayne Thomas Batson
Bras & Broomsticks by Sarah Mlynowski
Looking for Salvation at the Dairy Queen by Susan Gregg Gilmore
Magic Hour by Kristin Hannah
The Malice Box by Martin Langfield
Multiple Choice by Claire Cook
The Shadow Year by Jeffery Ford.

And I have 2 others on request. Quite a selection. As you can see my read interests are as varied as my music interests, lol. Anyways, I should have plenty to read for the next 2 weeks or so, lol. I have high hopes for the first 6 on this list. I am sure I will have sucked half of these down by Saturday, lol.

Another List Started

March 17th, 2008 Filed under: On the Nightstand, Just Me by Tammy

Those who know me know I love to read. I read newspapers, online news, blogs, magazines, and yes…books. I don’t suck them up quite as quickly as my mom does, lol. But reading is a very loved hobby. I am not super big on romance novels but I read almost anything else. Suspense, Thrillers, Fantasy, Chick Lit, Real Life Stories, Classics, even some Scifi. My mom could tell you that I also really love teen fiction. I think I was 25 before I picked up what would be considered an adult novel. Up until that time I read, almost exclusively, teen fiction. That love hasn’t gone away as I have gotten older. Maybe it’s my natural kid like amusement that draws me to it. Maybe it’s my scatterbrains. Whatever the draw I…LOVE… teen fiction.

A few months back I fell into a reading rut. That happens to me on and off each year so I wasn’t overly concerned. I knew the drive to read would return. Strangely enough my love of reading seems at it’s strongest in the Spring and Summer and then it seems to start fading out in the Fall. During winter it take me forever to read a single book. I have 4 that are started…since December… and none are finished. Ugh.

A fellow blog friend of mine is also a huge lover of teen fiction and she’s turned me on to a few authors I didn’t know existed. As if my current list of books I want to read wasn’t already long enough. Now I have a bunch more to add. I thought I’d go ahead and share those titles here in case someone else out there shares my love of teen fiction.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. It’s a vampire series and I plan on reading them all. At this point I believe there are 4 books. I don’t know if she has plans for a fifth.

Maximum Ride by James Patterson. James is one of my most loved authors. I have read almost everything he has written. I have been planning on reading this series FOREVER, lol but have yet to do it. And now he’s releasing a 4th book in this series this year so I HAVE to start reading it, lol. Actually… I own 2 of the 3 books already released, lol.

The Spiderwick Chronicals by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi. Even before the movie hype I have had this series in my sights. It’s a 5 book series.

The 13th Reality by James Dashner. I have heard nothing but excellent reviews on this book so far. I am very excited to get my hands on it.

I Gotta Read This..

March 16th, 2008 Filed under: On the Nightstand, Just Me by Tammy

Firefly Lane
Firefly Lane

Synopsis
In the summer of 1974, Kate Mularkey has accepted her place at the bottom of the eighth-grade social food chain. Then, to her amazement, the “coolest girl in the world” moves in across the street and wants to be her friend. Tully Hart seems to have it all - beauty, brains, ambition. On the surface they are as opposite as two people can be: Kate, doomed to be forever uncool, with a loving family who mortifies her at every turn; Tully, steeped in glamour and mystery, but with a secret that is destroying her. They make a pact to be best friends forever; by summer’s end they’ve become TullyandKate. Inseparable.

So begins Kristin Hannah’s magnificent novel. Spanning more than three decades and playing out across the ever-changing face of the Pacific Northwest, Firefly Lane is the poignant, powerful story of two women and the friendship that becomes the mainstay of their lives.

From the beginning, Tully is desperate to prove her worth to the world. Abandoned by her mother at an early age, she longs to be loved unconditionally. She will follow her own blind ambition to New York and around the globe, finding fame and success…and loneliness.

All Kate really wants is to fall in love and have children and live an ordinary life. In her own quiet way, Kate is as driven as Tully. What she doesn’t know is how being a wife and mother will change her…how she’ll lose sight of who she once was, and what she once wanted. And how much she’ll envy her famous best friend….

For thirty years, Tully and Kate buoy each other through life, weathering the storms of friendship - jealousy, anger, hurt, resentment. They think they’ve survived it all until a single act of betrayal tears them apart…and puts their courage and friendship to the ultimate test.

Firefly Lane is for anyone who ever drank Boone’s Farm apple wine while listening to Abba or Fleetwood Mac. More than a coming-of-age novel, it’s the story of a generation of women who were both blessed and cursed by choices. It’s about promises and secrets and betrayals. And ultimately, about the one person who really, truly knows you - and knows what has the power to hurt you…and heal you. Firefly Lane is a story you’ll never forget…one you’ll want to pass on to your best friend.

Maybe Not So Golden?

November 8th, 2007 Filed under: NaBloPoMo '07, On the Nightstand, Just Me by Tammy

My friend Lynn and I were talking tonight and she was telling me about this series of books that was causing quite a stir right now. His Dark Materials - Golden Compass.

According to the article I linked it’s not going to be a surprise to see this book added to the “banned” books like will it? LOL! Some people just want something to complain about I think. I wanna say to, Get over it people… it’s a book, read… don’t read it..but my goodness let’s not turn this into the next Watergate scandal, lol… It’s just a book for crying out loud, hehe And a harmless one at that. If someone believes in GOD this book won’t change their mind.

She told me to watch out with the kids because the book is a big disturbing. I thought… disturbing? Hmmm, I gotta check that out, lol. Yeah I am warped, hehe But so are most of my family and friends so I am loved anyways, lol.

So seriously I am gonna have to get this book and start reading. Have any of you read it yet? If so what do you think? Lynn likes it so far. And me…well I’ll let you know when I read it, lol. And as far as it possibly corrupting my children and turning them into warriors of Satan as soon as they open the front cover to read it…. I’ll be sure to say a few extra prayers. Besides a few have already called my kids spawns of Satan . So I guess from here the fall wobn’t be too great, lolol

I Wish I Could Make A Bid

November 8th, 2007 Filed under: NaBloPoMo '07, Harry Potter Phenomenon, On the Nightstand, Just Me by Tammy

I would love to be able to bid for this book. It’s a special book from JKR. It goes with the HP Series. Anyone who’s read the book knows the fable, “The Tales of Beedle the Bard.” I would love to have a copy in my own collection. But I won’t be able to bid and if I could I would never win, lol. I hope whoever gets it enjoys it and takes very good care of it.

A Possibility For the Future…

November 8th, 2007 Filed under: NaBloPoMo '07, Harry Potter Phenomenon, On the Nightstand, Just Me by Tammy

…an eighth Harry Potter book. Yep you heard me right. In this snippet you’ll see that JKR is not ruling out the possibility that she might do something else with the series. As far as I am concerned that would be awesome!! What do you think??
