Drew loved school, had a great time and made it plenty clear he definitely wants to go back. But he didn’t really want to talk about it. I mean if we asked him specifics about his day he was vague and squirmy. He even told me at one point… “Mom, I like school and I had lots of fun…but… I want to go outside right now. Ok?” LOL… My response was, “Umm, Ok Sweetie.” Hehe what else could I say? Later on though when we had dropped it and left him alone he slowly started sharing stories on his own about how his day unfolded. It was great to hear him verbalize with stories what his energy and mood already told us… he loved school!!
But it makes me wonder. I’d love to know why. Why when asked directly, “How was your day sweetie?”, do so many kids answer with the same vague stock responses? I wonder if it’s like an overload triggered by the question. Sorta like when you ask a child under 5.. “Why?” LOL. It is because so much happens in their day that when we ask for specifics they get overwhelmed and become unsure where to start?? But if you leave them alone and let them come back to you… They have tons to say.
:: sigh :: Maybe I just over-analyze my life, lol
